Hi I’m Colton Hoffman. That’s my family you see there. I grew up in Vancouver, WA, went to Hudson’s Bay High School, then off to EWU, Columbia Basin College, and Clark College to study Journalism. Eventually I realized that wasn’t the path I was intended to go on. I did odd jobs for a while with no real direction until I got a gig building tiny homes. It was my first foray into anything carpentry, and I fell in love with the trades.
The framing and wood working on the tiny homes was rough, intentionally so, they had that “rustic” appeal. So I took a job doing finish carpentry and cabinet installs in high-end development and custom homes, this allowed me to hone my skills and become a more complete craftsman. After years of detail work I then got into dry-rot repair. After that I did full remodels. There is nothing I would rather do for a living than working to make people’s houses better, because I know it makes their lives better.
I love baseball, I coached Little League and at Hudson’s Bay before my little ones came along. I play disc golf whenever I can. Any other free time is spent with the family, if we’re not home you can usually find us at the beach, Safeco Field, or Bend.
The intention with starting my business is to provide exceptional craftsmanship to homeowners who just want an honest job done right. I entered this industry as an outsider, nobody I knew ever built anything. I saw myself as an academic, trained to analyze, notice details, and “find the story” in anything. It didn’t take long to see the same story repeating itself in my new line of work: Homeowners being taken advantage of. Whether it’s egregious price gouging, use of sub-standard building materials, refusal to pull permits, or leaving jobs uncaulked and half finished, I have seen it too many times in my time in the trades.
You’re taught when writing copy, or advertising speak, that you should never highlight a negative in your marketing. So, I will leave the words I have for the shoddy builders out there for later, but I will say thank you for the impetus and the motivation to continue providing a better product, and a better experience for my customers.
